2 Things Challenge Prize/ Door

What a prize I found.
A heart-shaped key hole door.
If this door could talk,
what stories I could hear.
Stories of long ago before I was born,
of how it was to live in the 1800's
with no electric, only candles and oil lamps.
No TV, computers or cell phones,
just good old conversation with loved ones,
story telling, games and classic books.
Early to bed and early to rise
along with the sun's light.
Everybody had a job to do
in the house and on the farm.
And Sunday....Sunday was a day of rest
and worship.
Oh, what a prize I found in this door!

Vivian...
I love it! Lucky YOU just coming across something like this.

So did you write the poetry too?

Great entry.

I am not sure how I will particpate now that I went PRIVATE... but I think I will just keep playing along when I can.

Thank you, Sheila, and yes, I wrote the poetry....I like to pretend I am a poet. I have more poetry on my poetry blog...check it out if you'd like to. : )
Hey, perhaps you could have a blog just for the 2 thing challenge....you come up with some good ones!

Cheers!

I've never seen a keyhole cove like that one. Unique, and I think it says something about the person who made it, and the person who wanted it on their door. Great poem too.

Tash....thank you so much, you are very kind and encouraging!
My avatar matches the time period here ( and yes it's me! )

Larry, Rob and Maya....thank you!
This door is on an old house in a historical, restoration village that I love to go to, where most of the houses, church and school house were all built in the 1800's...cool, eh?
