What is that? Lilac?
We brought a lilac back from Pennsylvania several years ago, and I think this was the first year it got cold enough to entice it to bloom

Cold enough? wow....opposite of what we have around here...the Lilacs bloom in the spring as it starts to get a "bit" warmer.

No, it won't bloom until spring, but some of the flowering stuff from colder climes will not bloom in the spring if they don't get cold enough in the winter. To get tulip bulbs to bloom a second year here, they have to be dug up and put in the freezer for a while in the winter. Otherwise they just grow leaves, but no flowers. I thought maybe lilac was similar, but it's not a bulb.

Sort of looks like what my cat does to chipmunks when he catches them.
